To say he's an excellent player would be true. To say that it's a direct result of his hard work is also true, because Bokuto is the type of guy who will go after something with 110% of his grit, full throttle. He's a volleyball fiend and he loves playing, loves utilizing his body to its full potential, loves the rush of winning a match and hearing the crowd chant his name. His absolutely an athlete, almost even a meathead since he's not particularly bookish either (though he's still quite capable of being shrewd when necessary).

Of course, Bokuto also thrives on attention. He loves it. He revels in it. Nothing makes him happier than to have all eyes on him when he's doing well, all his friends and teammates and classmates bearing witness to him tearing it up on the court and being a super cool totally awesome badass (which is only on court, according to his classmates, since he's kind of a blockhead everywhere else). Yeah, Bokuto is something of a diva because of his attention-seeking, but he never ends up putting down anybody else to make himself look good. He uses his own achievements for that.

Bokuto is actually really great for morale. Not just because he's a good player, but because he's encouraging. He throws out compliments to his team any time there's a great play; he'll even coach members of other teams if he sees them do something well, or thinks they could use some help. Bokuto is the kind of guy who wants everyone to be good (though he would like it if he could be the best), wants everyone to find something they love and cherish it. He's not exactly charitable or altruistic about it, but his mood's at its highest when everyone around him is having fun. He's an extrovert, to a T, and surrounds himself with people accordingly.

To that end, he's also pretty childish about it. Bokuto has no problem wheedling people, roping them into helping him out, inflicting himself on people who don't really want him around. Bokuto both has no concept of when he's being annoying, and also doesn't care if he is. When social law dictactes him to read the mood of the room and act accordingly, he'll let his own mood and emotions overrule it and just bulldozes blithely onward. Bokuto allows himself to be ruled by his emotions, isn't really ashamed of them and acts on instinct more often than not. This is a pretty big hassle for his team, since they're usually the ones who have to clean up his mess after Typhoon Bokuto blows through.

On the flipside of that, Bokuto also can get down on himself very hard. He can sometimes have a short temper and, if things are going poorly and he knows he's to blame for it, he'll absolutely fall into a depression and moan and roll about. Bokuto's downswings aren't a quiet, mopey thing either; he's loud and he's weepy and he's irritatingly selfish about it. He's like a child throwing tantrums when something goes wrong; sure, he'll say something like "It's all my fault!" but instead of taking responsibility, he tends to throw himself at the nearest friend and cry about it until someone shows him what he can do to fix it.

Still, Bokuto can be counted on picking himself up...eventually. It goes much better if he gets pulled along by friends, but Bokuto isn't the type of guy to give up over a few bumps in the road. Despite his somewhat selfish and childish personality, Bokuto's almost an adult and he manages to muddle through just about everything, one way or another.

Feature Type: This is probably incredibly shallow reasoning but snowy owl wings, mainly bc his team and he himself are named after/compared to owls in the manga. And snowy bc his hair, like, c'mon; it's literally the same. EXCEPT. His wings won't be strong enough to let him fly anywhere; like at best he can glide back down to the ground from a high place or like, beat them to kick up dust or something, but he can't achieve liftoff from the ground. Or anywhere else, tbh.

The reason for this is because he's already going to get to live in a swank-ass place and get special treatment, and if he doesn't get knocked down somehow his ego will overtake the entire city and drown innocent people who just want to go on with their lives happily, thanks.

What are your plans with this character? I'm over the moon to see a Haikyuu!! cast, so I'm looking forward to having Bokuto slum it with Konoha and the crows when he's got this shining house he could be chilling out in. HONESTLY I'm mostly looking forward to shitposting because Bokuto is a bit of an oddball. Okay, a HUGE oddball. I'm eager to test him against people outside his canon and to see how I can grow his personality beyond SPORTS MANGA default settings.
